INEC Welcomes Admiral Sadiq as New National Commissioner

Admiral Jamila Abubakar Sadiq Manafa has been appointed as a national commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nigeria, following her swearing-in by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This appointment comes at a crucial time as INEC prepares for the upcoming electoral activities, including the presidential and national assembly elections scheduled for January 2027 and the governorship and state assembly polls set for February 2027.

INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan emphasized the importance of Manafa's diverse professional background, which includes military service, in strengthening the commission's capacity to manage electoral disputes and enhance security coordination. Manafa expressed gratitude for the warm reception and acknowledged her military career as beneficial to INEC's operations.
