INEC Welcomes Jamila Manafa as New National Commissioner

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially welcomed Jamila Manafa as a new national commissioner following her appointment by President Bola Tinubu. INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan described the appointment as timely and strategic, especially given the critical period leading up to the upcoming elections.

He noted that Manafa's extensive experience in legal practice, military service, and logistics management would add significant value to INEC's operations, particularly in electoral planning and dispute management. Amupitan reaffirmed INEC's commitment to its constitutional mandate and emphasized the importance of the new commission's active participation in upcoming electoral activities.

The elections scheduled include the presidential and national assembly elections in January 2027 and the governorship and state house assembly elections in February 2027. Manafa expressed gratitude for the warm reception and acknowledged her military background, expressing confidence in her ability to support INEC's operations and contribute to the stabilization of the country.
