APM Criticizes Tinubu's Government Over Insecurity Claims

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has accused the Federal Government of denying the worsening security situation in Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu. APM National Publicity Secretary Abubakar Yusuf stated that the government’s claim of improved security is a dangerous distortion of reality, as Nigeria is now ranked the fourth most insecure country according to the 2026 Global Terrorism Index, moving from sixth place in 2025.

Yusuf expressed disappointment over the Defence Minister General Christopher Musa's comments, highlighting the ongoing killings, kidnappings, and terror faced by Nigerians. The APM reported that over 600,000 Nigerians have been killed and approximately 2.2 million abducted in the last three years.

They referenced a recent mass abduction of about 600 individuals in Niger State and noted that kidnapping for ransom has become a lucrative industry, with over ₦7.78 billion paid in ransoms between July 2025 and June 2026. The party challenged government officials to travel without armed escorts to verify their claims of improved security.
