Three Dead, 20 Injured in Osun Road Accident

On Saturday, a road accident on the Ife-Ilesa Expressway in Osun State resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to approximately 20 others. The incident involved a head-on collision between a Toyota Hiace and another vehicle, as confirmed by Sunday Adebayo, the Osun Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Adebayo reported that the FRSC team arrived at the scene within five minutes of the crash, which occurred in the Tonkere area. The deceased included two females and one male, while the injured were transported to Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital and Seventh Day Adventist Hospital for medical care.

Adebayo attributed the accident to speeding and dangerous driving, urging road users to adopt safer driving habits to prevent such tragedies. He emphasized that the road conditions did not warrant such a high fatality rate and called for a change in attitude among Nigerian drivers regarding speed and road safety.
