Tinubu Approves New Army Battalion for Kwara State

President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of a new army battalion in Kwara State as part of efforts to strengthen security and intensify the fight against banditry and violent crime in the state. The battalion will be located in Omu Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area, with expectations of increased troop deployment and military hardware to enhance security operations, particularly in communities affected by rising cases of kidnapping and bandit attacks.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq disclosed this information in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mashood Agboola. The governor expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the approval, emphasizing that the new military formation will significantly bolster ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-kidnapping operations across the state.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the Office of National Security and security agencies in combating violent crime in Kwara. This development comes amid renewed concerns over worsening insecurity, particularly in the Babanla community of Ifelodun Local Government Area, where residents have reported continued bandit operations.
