Tinubu Commends Rescue of 308 Abductees in Nigeria

On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu welcomed the successful rescue of 308 individuals who were abducted in separate incidents in Kwara and Niger states. This operation, described as the largest single-day rescue by security agencies, involved a coordinated effort by the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, Armed Forces, Department of State Services, and Police Force.

Of the rescued, 163 were taken from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, while 145 were abducted in Niger State. The operation took place in the Kainji Lake National Park Forest in New Bussa Local Government Area.

Following their rescue, the victims are receiving first aid and medical care at a facility within Wawa Cantonment before being handed over to their respective state governments for further care and family reunification. Tinubu emphasized the need for improved security measures to prevent future abductions and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to eliminating security threats across Nigeria.
