Interior Ministry Reports Zero Capital Budget for Two Years

During a recent budget defense session before a joint committee of the Senate and House of Representatives in Abuja, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo disclosed that the Federal Ministry of Interior has recorded zero capital budget releases for the fiscal years 2024 and 2025. This absence of capital budget disbursement over two consecutive years has significantly affected the execution of infrastructure development projects within the ministry.

Tunji-Ojo described the situation as a major setback for implementing critical programs, emphasizing that the lack of funding has resulted in a zero percent performance on capital projects. He further highlighted the financial constraints faced by the federal government in recent fiscal years, which have contributed to this lack of capital release.
