Accord Party Urges International Action on Osun Violence

The South-West Forum of the Accord Party has urgently appealed to the African Union (AU), United Nations (UN), European Union (EU), United States Government, USAID, and UKAID for intervention regarding the increasing political violence in Osun State ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election. Hon.

Dele Oladeji, Secretary of the South-West Forum and Lagos State Chairman of the Accord Party, stated that there has been a rise in politically motivated attacks since the campaign began, targeting Accord Party members, leaders, and officials of the Osun State Government, including relatives of the governor. These attacks have resulted in several fatalities, including that of a 14-year-old boy.

Oladeji expressed concern over the lack of arrests or prosecutions of those responsible for the violence, suggesting a failure of security agencies and alleging state complicity in the violence. He also criticized the politically motivated arrest of Hon.

Teslim Igbalaye, the Secretary to the Osun State Government, regarding allegations of vote-buying.
