NDC Youth Leader Defends Peter Obi's Response to Blockade

Paul Moses, the youth leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), defended the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, regarding the blockade of his convoy in Benue State. Obi was reportedly attacked by suspected thugs and prevented from accessing Yelwata, where he intended to meet victims of recent violence.

Following the blockade, Obi chose not to force his way into the area and instead returned to the airport, later flying to Plateau State to continue his humanitarian efforts. During an appearance on Arise News, Moses stated that Obi's response should be viewed as an example of restraint rather than a political disagreement.

He emphasized that leadership is not about demonstrating power but about exercising restraint. Moses questioned how political leaders could access communities affected by violence if their movements were contingent on the approval of current authorities.

He urged other presidential candidates to engage directly with victims of violence, highlighting that Obi's previous visits had involved meaningful interactions with victims and community leaders.
