JAMB Eases SIM Swap and Email Change Rules for Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a relaxation of its restrictions on SIM swapping and email changes for candidates, effective from September 21, 2026. This policy change, communicated by JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocols, Dr Fabian Benjamin, allows candidates who have lost access to their registered phone numbers or email accounts to update their details through a controlled verification process.

Previously, JAMB had prohibited such changes due to security concerns regarding the alteration of candidates’ registered credentials. However, advancements in identity authentication and biometric verification systems have enabled this policy revision without compromising the integrity of candidates’ records.

Candidates can utilize this service only once and must follow a seven-step process, including logging into their e-Facility profile, making a payment, and visiting designated JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centres. A court affidavit is also required for the update process.
