Joint Security Forces Rescue Nine Abducted Victims in Kwara

Nine persons were rescued from suspected terrorists in Ekiti Local Government Area, Kwara State, during a joint operation by the Kwara Forest Guards, operatives of the Department of State Services, local hunters, and vigilance groups. The operation took place in the Obbo-Aiyegunle, Ejiu-Ora, and Osi areas, where the victims were being moved towards Niger State after being abducted from Eju community.

One victim, Umaru Muazu, recounted the attack, stating that he and his son were kidnapped at gunpoint. Another rescued individual, Ibrahim Danga, confirmed their brief captivity.

Owolabi Adebayo from the Kwara Forest Guards reported that three bandits were neutralized during the operation, and one victim required medical treatment for injuries. Adebayo noted that the bandits were heavily armed and called for better equipment for security forces.

Agbemuko Gabriel, Chief Security Officer of Ekiti LGA, praised the forest guards for their effective intelligence work. The federal government is also enhancing security measures in the region, including the establishment of a new Army battalion in Umaro.
