PDP Ratifies Goodluck Jonathan as Presidential Candidate

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) faction led by Tanimu Turaki ratified Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections during a convention held in Garki, Abuja. The ratification ceremony took place amidst significant security measures, with police restricting access to the venue from 5 AM on Saturday.

Jonathan's candidacy received widespread support across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, as confirmed by Fred Agbedi, a member of the House of Representatives from Bayelsa State. The motion to ratify Jonathan was moved by Toni Aziegbemi, with support from former Minister Sanusi Dagash.

The convention, originally scheduled for a different venue, was relocated due to threats from the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who revoked land titles for political events not recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Key PDP figures, including Adulphu Wabara and Jerri Gana, were present at the ceremony.
