Miyetti Allah Blames Religious Leaders for Jos Violence

Following a recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North LGA, Baba Othman Ngelzarma, the president of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), accused religious leaders of causing division and inciting violence. The attack, which occurred on a Sunday, sparked outrage on social media and led the state government to impose a 48-hour curfew in the affected local government area.

Ngelzarma criticized the "reckless inflammatory rhetoric" of some religious leaders and called for them to exercise restraint and promote dialogue to de-escalate tensions. He urged traditional and religious leaders to actively work towards peace and encouraged security agencies to ensure the prosecution of individuals, including religious figures, who incite violence.

Ngelzarma also called on relevant authorities to intensify intelligence gathering to identify perpetrators and sponsors of violence, advising security agencies to strengthen their presence in vulnerable communities to prevent further attacks.
