163 Freed Kwara Abductees Reunite with Families

On Thursday, a statement from Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s Chief Press Secretary, MD Baniya, confirmed that 163 residents abducted from Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area have reunited with their families after spending more than two weeks receiving medical care in Ilorin. The victims were escorted back to Kaiama by local officials, including the Chairman of Kaiama Local Government Area, Abubakar Danladi, the Emir of Kaiama, Omar Shehu Muazu, and the Kiwazi of Wojibe, Ahmed Ibn Mohammad.

Emotional scenes marked the reunion as family members welcomed the victims back. Danladi expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for their support in securing the victims' freedom.

He also acknowledged the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, for his advocacy during the ordeal. The 163 victims were abducted during a February 3 attack on Woro community and regained their freedom following a coordinated security operation in the Kainji Lake National Park forest.
