Kwara Community Demands Action on 176 Abducted Residents

The Kaiama Development Association (KDA) has challenged the Kwara State Police Command regarding the number of residents abducted during the February 3 terrorist attack on Woro community. KDA insists that 176 individuals remain missing and has called for a shift from disputes over figures to urgent rescue efforts.

The association, represented by President Yakubu Salihu, Secretary General Aminu Mohammed Umar, and Publicity Secretary Dr Yahaya Hussein, criticized comments from Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi, who stated that the police could not verify claims of 176 abductions. Resident Aliyu Umar, involved in negotiations with the terrorists, indicated that the number of those held has increased from 76 to 81, as five pregnant women have given birth in captivity.

KDA argues that records from families, traditional rulers, and local volunteers should be considered alongside official data to accurately assess the humanitarian crisis faced by the community.
