ADC Submits Petition to INEC Amid Protests for Democracy

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) submitted a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday after a protest led by notable political figures including former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Kano Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, and former Anambra Governor Peter Obi. The protest, which took place at Maitama Junction near the INEC Headquarters, featured placards demanding that President Bola Tinubu allow democracy to thrive.

The ADC's petition comes in light of INEC's recent suspension of the party's recognition following a court ruling that directed the party to maintain the status quo amid a leadership dispute involving Nafiu Bala's challenge against the party's chairman, David Mark, after Ralph Nwosu's resignation. The protest was also supported by other political leaders, including Senate President Aminu Tambuwal and former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi, emphasizing the ADC's commitment to democratic principles.
