SERAP Demands Ex-Rivers Administrator's N254bn Spending Explanation

Anti-corruption group SERAP has requested the former Rivers state administrator, Vice Admiral Ibas, to explain the spending of N254 billion received from the federation account between March and August 2025. The request, made through a Freedom of Information (FoI) filing, also covers the alleged budget of N22 billion for a CCTV system at the state house during Ibas' tenure.

SERAP stated that this transparency initiative aims to enhance accountability, challenge corruption allegations, and ensure the proper management of public resources. By invoking the right to access information, SERAP seeks to empower Nigerians to scrutinize government actions and demand accountability.

The group emphasized that the disclosure of how the funds were utilized would help address any potential mismanagement or abuse of public trust.
