APC Secures All Seats in Edo Local Government Elections

In the recent local government elections held in Edo State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) achieved a sweeping victory, winning all contested positions. The party secured 18 chairmanship seats and 192 councillorship positions.

Mr. Jonathan Aifuobhokhan, the chairman of the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC), announced the results, confirming that the elections were conducted in accordance with the Edo State Local Government Electoral Law of 2022, which is applicable until 2026. Aifuobhokhan noted that while there were minor operational challenges in a few locations, these did not significantly impact the overall conduct and outcome of the elections.

He commended the political parties, candidates, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organizations, community leaders, youth, and women groups for their peaceful conduct during the electoral process.
