ICPC Denies ADC Leaders Access to El-Rufai in Custody

On Friday, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) prevented leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from visiting former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who is currently in custody on undisclosed charges related to corruption. The delegation included ADC's national secretary Rauf Aregbesola, national public secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, and Salihu Lukman, who serves on the party's manifesto policy committee.

Despite their arrival at the ICPC premises, the ADC leaders were reportedly denied entry without a clear explanation provided at the time. This incident has drawn attention within political circles, particularly among ADC members.

The ICPC has previously dismissed allegations regarding El-Rufai's treatment in custody, including claims of denied access to food and medical care for family members, which are typically authorized during approved visit periods. As of the latest updates, neither the ICPC nor the ADC has issued further clarifications regarding the blocked visit.
