IGP Olatunji Disu Redeploys DIGs to Enhance Security

The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved the redeployment of Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) across various regions in Nigeria as part of efforts to improve security operations and tackle the rise in criminal activities. This redeployment will take effect on June 15 and was announced during a strategic police management meeting held in Abuja with senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

Disu emphasized that the move aims to bring senior leadership closer to operational areas and enhance coordination of security activities nationwide. The assigned DIGs will work directly with the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioners of Police within their zones to ensure that police strategies are effectively implemented and security targets are met.

Disu instructed state police commissioners to maintain direct communication with their counterparts in neighboring states to facilitate joint actions whenever security situations require immediate response. He also called for improved relationships with the media to bolster public confidence in the police force.
