Oyo Assembly Cancels Anniversary Celebrations Over Security

The Oyo State House of Assembly has officially canceled its planned third anniversary celebrations due to increasing security concerns in the state, particularly in the Ogbomoso area. This decision was announced on Thursday during a plenary session, where Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin cited the worsening security situation as a significant reason for the cancellation.

The assembly felt it was crucial to stand with the community facing security threats, deeming the current period unsuitable for celebrations. The third anniversary marks three years of legislative activities since the assembly's inauguration on June 14, 2023.

Despite the security challenges, the assembly has passed thirty-six bills covering various sectors and transmitted 276 resolutions to the executive arm for implementation. Ogundoyin assured residents that the assembly remains committed to legislative responsibilities and will continue to work closely with security agencies to address emerging threats and improve the welfare of citizens.
