APC Chairman Hon. Ishaq Yunusa Gunned Down in Kogi

Hon. Ishaq Yunusa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman for Dekina Local Government Area, was shot dead by gunmen on Thursday at approximately 5pm along the Itobe-Ochadamu Expressway, near Ojuwo Olijo in Ofu Local Government Area. During the attack, another individual traveling with him was kidnapped.

The assailants emerged from the surrounding bush and opened fire on vehicles before fleeing into the forest. Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Afusat Saliu, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Friday in Lokoja.

An abandoned blue Toyota Corolla with registration number GWA 636 CH was found along the highway. The body of Hon. Yunusa was taken to Grimard Hospital in Anyigba for autopsy.

The Kogi State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, has ordered increased security operations along the affected road and is collaborating with other security agencies to locate the abducted victim. The police urged travelers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
