Tinubu Requests Helicopters from German Chancellor Merz

On Wednesday afternoon, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria held a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, during which he requested assistance in improving Nigeria's power transmission capabilities. Tinubu specifically asked for the supply of used helicopters to aid intelligence and reconnaissance efforts in the Sahel region.

The discussion, which lasted from 2:01 PM to 2:10 PM, also touched on the strengthening of bilateral relations between Nigeria and Germany, with both leaders expressing a willingness to collaborate on various initiatives, including the arts and skills development. Chancellor Merz pledged that Siemens is ready to assist Nigeria, and Deutsche Bank will finance relevant projects.

The leaders also expressed concerns regarding the security situation in the Sahel region. Additionally, they discussed the importance of establishing a significant museum for African art in Nigeria, reflecting a commitment to cultural collaboration.
