Kaduna State to Host 2026 Inter-Tertiary Debate Championship

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Kaduna Axis, has announced the 2026 Kaduna State Inter-Tertiary Debate Championship, which will feature 14 universities and polytechnics competing over three weeks, beginning on October 3, 2026. This initiative aims to foster critical thinking, research, public speaking, and leadership skills among students in tertiary institutions.

Each participating institution will send two student debaters to engage in three elimination rounds, culminating in the selection of champions. The debates will cover contemporary issues such as governance, education, technology, socio-economic development, and youth participation.

Comrade Nana-firdaus Ishaq, Vice Chairman of the Inter-Campus NANS JCC Kaduna Axis, emphasized that the championship seeks to equip students with skills beyond academic qualifications, promoting informed public discourse and societal solutions. The organizers are seeking support from corporate organizations, government institutions, and individuals to facilitate the event.
