Kaduna Police Investigate Officers in Viral Extortion Video

The Kaduna State Police Command has ordered a full-scale investigation into police officers depicted in a viral video allegedly extorting money from motorists and cyclists during a stop-and-search operation in Millennium City. The command's spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, stated that Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, has directed the identification and invitation of the involved officers for investigation.

Those found guilty will face appropriate sanctions. The command clarified that routine roadblocks and stop-and-search operations have been limited, except when credible intelligence on criminal activities exists.

The route shown in the video has been previously associated with criminal elements, where police operatives recovered 20 AK-47 rifles. Hassan reiterated that no officer is allowed to exploit legitimate security duties for extortion or misconduct.

The command commended public vigilance and encouraged reporting of unprofessional conduct by police officers.
