Jungle Justice Claims Three Lives in Kaduna State

In Kaduna State, three individuals have lost their lives to mob violence within a two-week span, raising serious concerns about the trend of jungle justice. The latest victims, Muhammadu Sani, 45, and Aliyu Moh, 40, were lynched by an angry mob in Gidan Kalu Village, Birnin Yero, after being wrongly accused of motorcycle theft while traveling to visit a sick relative on July 1, 2026.

Despite their pleas of innocence, the mob pursued and beat them to death. In a separate incident, Ummulkhairi Muhammad was lynched and set ablaze after being accused of attempting to steal a child.

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with these incidents and has vowed to prosecute everyone found culpable. Police Commissioner Rabiu Muhammad condemned the killings, emphasizing that suspects are innocent until proven guilty in court and urging the public to report criminal activities to law enforcement rather than resorting to mob action.
