Mob Kills Two Over False Kidnapping Claims in Kaduna

On July 1, 2023, in Gidan Kalu Village, Birnin Yero, Kaduna State, a mob killed two men, Muhammadu Sani, 45, and Aliyu Moham, 40, after they were falsely accused of kidnapping. The victims were traveling on a motorcycle when residents became suspicious and raised an alarm, mistakenly believing they were thieves.

Despite the victims' explanations, the mob pursued and attacked them, resulting in their deaths. The Kaduna State Police Command responded to the incident, arresting six suspects, including Abdullahi Mukailu Kigo, who confessed to participating in the attack.

Police spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan condemned the mob action, emphasizing that such behavior is unlawful and unacceptable. He urged the public to report suspicious individuals to the police rather than resorting to mob justice.

This incident follows a series of similar attacks in Kaduna State, raising concerns about the prevalence of mob violence driven by false accusations amid increasing insecurity.
