Six Arrested for Mob Killing of Travelers in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command arrested six suspects linked to the mob killing of two travelers, Muhammadu Sani, 45, and Aliyu Moham, 40, on July 1. The incident occurred in Gidan Kalu village, Birnin Yero, a few kilometers from Maraban Jos.

The victims were traveling on a motorcycle to visit a sick relative when they were mistakenly suspected of being kidnappers due to their new motorcycle. An alarm was raised, leading to an angry mob that lynched the two men despite their explanations of innocence.

The police responded promptly to the report and arrested Abdullahi Mukailu Kigo and five others connected to the incident. The suspects have confessed to the crime and are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

Rabiu Muhammad, the police commissioner, condemned the killings, describing the actions as barbaric and unlawful, and warned residents against taking the law into their own hands.
