Six Arrested for Lynching Two Travelers in Kaduna

On July 1, two travelers, Muhammadu Sani, 45, and Aliyu Moham, 40, were lynched by a mob in Gidan Kalu Village, Birnin Yero, Kaduna State, after being mistaken for kidnappers. The Kaduna State Police Command reported that the victims were traveling on a motorcycle to visit a sick uncle when they were attacked.

Local residents became suspicious upon seeing the pair on a new motorcycle and raised an alarm, accusing them of theft. Despite the victims' explanations, they were pursued and brutally attacked by an angry mob, resulting in their deaths.

Following the incident, the police responded promptly, arresting six suspects, including Abdullahi Mukailu Kigo, who confessed to participating in the attack. The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, condemned the mob action, labeling it unlawful and barbaric, and vowed to prosecute all involved.

This incident marks the second high-profile mob killing in the Maraban Jo area within a week, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding mob justice in Kaduna State.
