Man Arrested in Kaduna for Girlfriend's Death

On September 5, 2026, the lifeless body of a woman was discovered along Mai Angwa Street in Romi, Kaduna. According to a statement from the Kaduna police, issued by spokesman DSP Mansir Hassan, the deceased was found with cotton wool stuffed in her nose.

Police detectives from Romi Outstation responded to the scene and transported her to St. Gerald Hospital in Kakuri, where a medical doctor confirmed her death. The body was subsequently placed in the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

Preliminary investigations indicated that Jatau was the last person to contact the deceased, leading to his arrest at his workplace, Tomato Jos Company in Maraban Jos. During interrogation, Jatau confessed to having a fight with the deceased over a phone call from another woman, which he claimed resulted in her death.

He also admitted to disposing of her body in an open field near his residence to conceal the crime. Jatau will remain in police custody while investigations continue and will face charges in court upon completion of the investigation.
