Kano Community Rejects N10M Bribe Over Drug Trafficking

Residents of Bajallabe community near the FCE Gate 1 in Kano metropolis rejected a N10 million bribe offered by the driver of a Golf vehicle suspected of being involved in drug trafficking. This incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday when residents became suspicious of the vehicle parked alongside a motorcycle near a residential building.

Lamara Garba, a member of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force on Drug Abuse and Illicit Substances, reported that the vehicle was allegedly loaded with substances suspected to be illicit drugs. When approached by residents, the driver attempted to bribe community representatives and local vigilante personnel to ignore the matter.

The bribe was rejected, prompting the local vigilante group chairman to alert the Multi-Agency Task Force and the Nigeria Police Force, Rijiyar Zaki Division. Police took custody of the vehicle and individuals involved for further investigation.

Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, chairman of the Multi-Agency Task Force, praised the community's courage and civic responsibility in tackling drug trafficking.
