Kano Court Adjourns Ganduje's Trial to October 14, 2023

The Kano State High Court has adjourned the trial of former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and his wife, Hafsat Umar, regarding allegations of financial misconduct, including bribery and misappropriation of public funds amounting to billions of naira. The court has set the next hearing date for October 14, 2023.

Ganduje and his wife face 11 counts related to these allegations. The defense team, which includes Abubakar Bawuro, Abdullahi Umar Jibrilla, and Muhammad Lamash, is preparing to respond to the prosecution's motions.

Prosecuting counsel Victor Oni informed the court of a request to withdraw an earlier motion filed on March 31, 2026, and replace it with a fresh motion set for May 15, 2026. The presiding judge, Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu, struck the earlier motion and adjourned the matter, allowing the sixth defendant's preliminary objection to be heard at the next session.
