Kano Government Seals Film House Over Resident Complaints

The Kano State government, through the Kano State Film Censorship Board, temporarily sealed a Film House on Wednesday due to complaints from local residents. The Director General, Dalhatu Aliyu Sani, confirmed the action, stating that the facility failed to provide the required legal documents for operation.

It was noted that the Film House, built by Sultan Abdulrazaq Dorayi, was the first of its kind in Northern Nigeria and aimed to showcase films, including translations of Indian films into Hausa. However, the facility was found to be operating without the necessary approvals and was located in a residential area, violating urban planning regulations.

The government expressed concern over the potential negative impact on youth and community safety, especially given past security challenges in the area. The facility will remain sealed until further notice, and the government reiterated its commitment to safeguarding residents' interests and ensuring compliance with urban planning regulations.
