Kano Igbo Leaders Address Eze Ndi Igbo Stool Crisis

The leaders of the Kano Igbo community have issued a caution regarding ongoing public discussions about the Eze Ndi Igbo stool, which is currently under legal scrutiny. A statement from Michael Nworisa, the Assistant Secretary of the Igbo Community Association Kano, was made available to newsmen in Kano on Wednesday.

The statement clarifies that the legal position surrounding the stool is still active, as the Court of Appeal's judgment remains in effect. Boniface Ibekwe asserted that the process to recognize the Eze Ndi Igbo in Kano did not comply with the necessary constitutional procedures.

The appeal court's decision, which is referenced as appeal no CA/K/N/64/2020, has not been overturned by the Supreme Court of Nigeria, and thus, the judgment remains binding until a final determination is made by the apex court.
