Kanu's Lawyers Threaten Action Over Call to Kill Leader

Nnamdi Kanu's legal team, representing the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has vowed to take legal action following comments made by Chigozi Nnabugwu during a live television interview. Nnabugwu allegedly called for the Nigerian government to kill Kanu, claiming that such an act would lead to peace in the Southeast.

Kanu's special counsel, Aloi Ejimakor, condemned these remarks, stating they amount to a direct call for extrajudicial killing and pose a significant threat to public peace. The legal team emphasized that the comments could incite violence and disrupt public order, warning that they could attract criminal liability under Nigerian law, including provisions of the Cybercrime Act.

They have issued a pre-action notice demanding that Nnabugwu publicly retract his statement and apologize. Failure to comply could lead to legal proceedings against both Nnabugwu and the television station that aired the interview.
