Kano Pilgrim Board Sets May 13, 2026 for Hajj Airlift

The Kano State Pilgrim Welfare Board has officially set May 13, 2026, as the commencement date for the airlift of pilgrims intending to travel to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj exercise. This announcement was made in a statement signed by Sulaiman Dederi from the board's public relations office and shared with newsmen.

Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawal, the Director General of the board, emphasized the importance of necessary preparations to ensure a smooth airlift operation. During a visit to the Kano State House of Assembly, Matawal highlighted the tradition of formally briefing the House, particularly the House Committee on Hajj, prior to the commencement of flights.

This is aimed at guaranteeing transparency and proper coordination. Hon Muhammad Bello Butu Butu, the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly and a member of the House Committee on Hajj, congratulated Matawal on his appointment, describing it as well-deserved, and pledged the Assembly's continued support for the board to achieve seamless Hajj operations.
