Kano State Security Council Halts Durbar Activities

The Kano State Security Council announced the suspension of durbar and horse-riding activities as a precautionary measure to preserve public order and prevent potential loss of lives and property. This decision was made during an emergency meeting held at the Government House, Kano, where the security situation surrounding the planned activities was reviewed.

A statement signed by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, indicated that security assessments revealed significant mobilization of supporters, raising concerns about possible confrontations and a breakdown of law and order. The council emphasized its constitutional responsibility to safeguard lives and property, directing all relevant security agencies in the state to enforce the restriction and take lawful action against violators.

The government urged residents, traditional institutions, political actors, and stakeholders to remain calm and comply with the directive, assuring them that measures are being taken to maintain peace and public order. The restriction is effective immediately and will remain in force until further notice.
