Kano Suspends Water Scheme Manager Over Sabotage Claims

The Kano State Government has ordered the immediate suspension of the manager of the Thomas Region Water Scheme, Thomas, over allegations of sabotage that undermine the government's efforts to address water scarcity in the state. The suspension was announced in a statement issued by the Kano State Water Resources Commission, led by Dahiru Muhammad Hashim, on Monday.

This action comes as part of an investigation into allegations of vandalism affecting facilities intended to serve three local government areas, which have remained non-functional for several years. During a recent inspection, it was discovered that the project, completed three months ago, had already been looted, with significant damage including stripped electrical wires and non-functional pumps.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has expressed a commitment to restoring Kano's water infrastructure and ensuring the revitalization of the water scheme, urging the public to protect public assets.
