WASI Foundation Targets 10,000 Vulnerable Persons in Katsina

The Women Action and Support Initiative (WASI) Foundation has launched its activities in Katsina, targeting over 10,000 vulnerable individuals for free medicare and vocational training. Established by Hajiya Bilkisu Yusuf Sulaiman, an indigene of Jibia local government area, the foundation received federal approval from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on July 15, 2026.

During a stakeholders’ meeting in Katsina, Bilkisu Yusuf emphasized that the NGO was created to address challenges faced by women, youth, and rural communities, especially in areas impacted by security issues. The foundation plans to engage young people through various programs, including sports and arts, and will conduct public health education campaigns on hygiene, nutrition, and maternal care.

Additionally, it aims to establish community libraries, provide scholarships, and conduct civic education and leadership training. Bilkisu expressed hope that WASI Foundation would effectively implement programs that reach those in need.
