Kebbi Senator Maidoki Defects from APC to ADC

Senator Maidoki has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following unresolved internal conflicts within the APC related to the recent primary elections in Kebbi. Maidoki's decision was communicated in a letter addressed to the Senate President during a plenary session on Tuesday.

He stated that his choice was made after extensive consultations with his constituents and is aimed at addressing the protracted problems arising from the APC's primary elections. Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau urged Maidoki to reconsider his decision and step down to allow for reconciliation within the APC, asserting that the party does not face fundamental crises.

However, Maidoki rejected this intervention, emphasizing that he had already made up his mind. His defection is part of a broader trend of lawmakers leaving the APC for the ADC amid increasing dissatisfaction with the party's internal processes as the 2027 general elections approach.
