Kebbi Monarch Calls for Grassroots Action Against Malaria

Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Mera, the District Head of Lailaba and Sarkin Gobir Lailaba in Kebbi State, has called for grassroots action to combat malaria in Nigeria. During a recent visit to his palace, he urged traditional rulers, community leaders, governments, and development partners to enhance collective efforts to eliminate malaria.

Mera endorsed the Geneith Health Competition and stressed the need for sustained investment, community mobilization, and multisectoral collaboration to prevent malaria from regaining ground. He highlighted that malaria poses a significant threat to vulnerable populations, particularly in underserved communities, and warned that declining attention and resources could reverse progress.

Mera emphasized the importance of empowering students as health ambassadors to promote malaria prevention and healthier practices. He called for the active involvement of young people and urged stakeholders to ensure that students in rural areas are included in health initiatives.

Mera reaffirmed the commitment of the Gobir Traditional Council to support the competition and urged all levels of government and private organizations to unite in combating malaria.
