Kebbi South Senator Maidoki Resigns from APC Amid Crisis

Garba Musa Maidoki, the Senator for Kebbi South, officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on May 14, 2026, citing unresolved internal disputes within the party. In a formal letter addressed to the chairman of the APC at the Rafin Zuru Ward in Zuru Local Government Area, Maidoki expressed gratitude for the opportunities provided by the party but indicated that the ongoing internal crisis influenced his decision to withdraw.

His resignation follows a previous defection to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in May 2025, alongside Senators Adamu Aliero and Yahaya Abdullahi, after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the presidential villa. This recent resignation occurs just before the APC senatorial primaries, raising questions about potential realignments within Kebbi State's political landscape.

Maidoki currently serves as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Legislative Compliance and as the vice chairman of another committee, indicating his significant role in the Senate.
