Kenya's INDOI Ltd Unveils LuLu Coastal Cable System

Kenya has initiated a significant upgrade to its coastal digital infrastructure with the launch of the LuLu Coastal Cable System, the country's first fully protected coastal submarine cable network, at ITW Africa 2026. Developed by INDOI Ltd, Blue Trade Investments Limited, ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms, AfriTrade Consulting Group, and Kingdom Bank Limited, this system will connect five strategic landing points along Kenya's 500-kilometre Indian Ocean coastline, including Mombasa, Vipingo Special Economic Zone, Kilifi, and Malindi.

The LuLu system features a dual-path architecture combining a submarine cable with a parallel terrestrial route, enhancing resilience and network availability. It will utilize dense wavelength division multiplexing technology, with a design capacity of up to 60 terabits per second per fibre pair, and is expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2028.

Arunachalam Kandasamy, founder and CEO of INDOI Ltd, stated that the project addresses a critical infrastructure gap and will serve as a permanent digital backbone for the coastal corridor.
