Osun State Government Launches Security Taskforce Initiative

The Osun State Government has established a joint security taskforce to bolster security response and intelligence gathering amid increasing violent crimes. This decision was announced in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, in Osogbo.

The initiative follows a State Security Council meeting convened by Governor Ademola Adeleke and presided over by Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, with the new Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, and other security commanders present. The government is committed to providing necessary logistics to enhance the protection of lives and property.

The council urged residents to remain vigilant, especially in places of worship and schools, and emphasized the importance of timely intelligence sharing with security agencies. Additionally, the Nigeria Police and other security agencies were directed to maintain a 24-hour red alert to counter threats from bandits and terrorists.

The meeting also established a collaboration between the Ministry of Justice, Nigeria Police, and DSS for the investigation and prosecution of suspects.
