Idoma Community in Kogi Seeks Official Recognition

The Idoma Community in Kogi State has formally appealed for official recognition from the state government, as articulated by the community's Chairman, Mr. Onehi Friday, following a stakeholders’ meeting in Lokoja.

He highlighted that despite their significant presence and contributions over the years, the Idoma people have not received the same recognition as other ethnic groups in the state. The community has initiated a membership registration exercise to strengthen its structure and encourage eligible members to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Mr. Friday acknowledged the efforts of Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Engr.

Bashir Abubakar Gegu, in addressing the community's concerns. He also called on All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders to facilitate a visit to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

Friday condemned individuals posing as leaders of an unauthorized “Idoma Association” in Lokoja and reaffirmed that the “Idoma Community in Kogi State” is the legitimate representative body.
