Kogi Governor Partners with NIWA to Enhance Inland Transport

Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo assured the management of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) of his administration's commitment to enhancing collaboration for improved water safety and inland transport. This assurance was given during a meeting with NIWA's Board of Directors, led by Chairman Barr.

Mukhtari Shehu Shagari, at the Governor's official residence in Lokoja. Governor Ododo announced the formation of a committee to work with NIWA on a roadmap for sustainable development of inland waterways in Kogi State, focusing on developing jetties in rural communities and creating jobs for youth.

Shagari emphasized Kogi's strategic waterways and NIWA's commitment to collaborating with the state to unlock their potential, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Blue Economy agenda. NIWA aims to partner with Kogi State on developing jetties, dredging, and enhancing water transportation safety.

Key NIWA management present included Yusuf Umar Girei (Acting Managing Director/CEO), Abdullahi Dabai (GM Human Resources), and others.
