Omugo Community Celebrates Return of Abducted Worshippers

The Omugo community in Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, celebrated the return of three women who were abducted from the Evangel Church (ECWA) on March 22, 2026, and spent 105 days in captivity. The women, including a hearing-impaired widow, were among eight worshippers kidnapped during a church service.

Oladimeji Thompson, President of the Omugo Development Union, described their return as a moment of mixed emotions, expressing gratitude to God for their freedom while mourning the loss of five worshippers who were killed during the incident. The community endured 105 days filled with fear and anxiety, relying on prayer for the safe return of the victims.

Thompson commended the efforts of security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, and local vigilante groups, for their roles in the successful rescue operation. Rev. Sundai Omol, pastor of the ECWA Church, announced the return of the women and called for prayers for their recovery.
