Kwara Governor Denies Submitting Speaker's Name to Tinubu

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has publicly denied claims that he submitted the name of Speaker Salihu Yakubu Danladi to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election. This denial follows a viral online report suggesting that the governor had endorsed the speaker, which gained traction within political circles amid insinuations that the governor was backing the speaker due to fair equity considerations, as the district has not produced a governor since 1999.

During the APC state congress held in Ilorin the previous week, Abdulrazaq dismissed suggestions of backing any aspirant for the state race, reinforcing his position that the race remains open. Special Adviser on Media, Alhaji Bashir Adigun, issued a statement on Tuesday describing the report as false and politically motivated, urging aspirants to pursue legitimate political engagement rather than speculation.
