Kwara plans for cargo services at Ilorin Idiagbon international airport

Kwara State government plans to introduce cargo services at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport in Ilorin, the state capital. The announcement was made by the State Commissioner of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr.

Afees Alabi, during an event organized by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). The initiative aims to position the state as a hub for agricultural and commercial exports, enhancing national and international trade.

Alabi emphasized that the project aligns with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq's vision to open new export channels, improve market access, and boost income for producers and businesses. The cargo services will facilitate the efficient movement of goods from farms, factories, and workshops to domestic and global markets, supporting value addition, processing, and packaging across sectors.

The upgrade of the airport's old terminal building to a modern cargo facility with advanced technology is expected to boost trade, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth in Kwara State. Stakeholders from various sectors.
