Kwara, UNICEF Aid Displaced Persons in Edu LG Camp

The Kwara State Government, in partnership with UNICEF, delivered humanitarian assistance to victims of insecurity residing in the Yikpata Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Edu Local Government Area. The intervention included essential materials such as water, sanitation, and hygiene items, which were distributed by the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA).

A statement issued by Afolabi Templ, the press secretary of RUWASSA, confirmed the distribution of these materials to the camp. During the visit, Captain Umar Adamu, the camp command, and Olorunfemi Oladipo, the general manager of RUWASSA, commended the collaboration between the state government and UNICEF in addressing the humanitarian needs of displaced persons.

The camp currently accommodates 1,000 displaced individuals, including 800 children and 500 women. Bello Abubakar, known as the camp teacher, expressed gratitude for the support, emphasizing the positive impact on families facing hardships.
